Overview
The Silverheels 18 features a “Softlite Ionomer foam collar/fender on a fast, safe and seaworthy welded aluminum hull.
Our most recent Silverheels 18 was built for a client who will be carrying research scientists in the Aleutian Islands. They needed a vessel able to safely carry inexperienced personnel, provide a stable work platform while operating in rough water and withstand numerous landings on rocky beaches.
The “Softlite” collar provides full time fendering for laying against ship or dock, diverts spray and gives additional positive flotation. It's the same collar used by the Coast Guard for the Motor Lifeboat fleet.
